The following is a description of what was in Issue #1.
Callbase Capricorn: this is the title of the editorial comments by the editor of SpaceWays. In Issue #1, he introduces what the magazine is and what he hopes to achieve.
"No Fear" by Joanna vanOorschot:
a story about two students of magic engaged in a grudge match during a training session. One summons a horrific monster and unleashes it against the other. Now Jaymy must think fast to save them both.
"The Beast Within" by Patricia Murphy:
a fast-paced story which takes you into the experience of being hunted for sport. The true direction of the plot is carefully concealed until just the right moment.
"Gravity Well" by Neála Carradwyn:
a free verse poem about a person discovering herself.
"Ribands of Space" by Neála Carradwyn:
a visually stylistic poem which explores the attempts of organizations to crush the spirit of the common people.
"Sight Unseen" by Rob Stotesbury-Leeson:
she was found living in the trash in an alley, driven mad by a misunderstood ability. Her rescuers bring her back from the brink of madness, only to have the same ability destroy her in the end.
"Passing" by Trevor Van Mierlo:
a sensitive and moving exploration of a future which may be all too possible. What price are we willing to pay for immortality?
"Adventures At Toronto Trek 9" by Rob Stotesbury-Leeson:
a report by Rob on his visit to a Toronto Star Trek convention in 1995. Old, yes, but still a timely and informative piece on life inside a science fiction convention. Useful tips are provided.
